Teaching and internships
Teaching:
We help organize a yearly master's course in bioinformatics at the Hanze University in Groningen, which is a five-month program designed to provide students with an introduction to the fundamental concepts and techniques of bioinformatics. The course focuses on eQTLs (expression quantitative trait loci), single-cell technologies, and data visualization, and covers topics such as genetics, genomics, and large-scale data analysis.
Throughout the course, students will learn how to use computational tools and techniques to analyze and interpret biological data, and will gain practical experience working with real-world data sets. The course includes a range of teaching methods, such as lectures, seminars, lab sessions, and hands-on projects, to allow students to learn both theoretically and through practical application of their skills.
Internships:
If you are interested in pursuing a career in the exciting field of genetics, genomics or bioinformatics, an internship in our group is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and build your skills. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced colleagues and have the chance to tackle real-world challenges using cutting-edge tools and technologies.
Unlock the secrets of biology with our translational bioinformatics and computational biology research! From genetics and genomics to single-cell technologies and drug design, we use innovative approaches to analyze and interpret data to solve some of the biggest biological challenges. Plus, our collaboration with clinicians and industry means our work has the power to revolutionize human health. Join our dynamic team of professors, postdocs, PhD students, and technicians as we push the limits of what's possible in the field.
An internship in our group provides hands-on training in a wide range of bioinformatics topics, including genetics, genomics, statistics, and data visualization. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that are directly relevant to current research and development in the field, and to make meaningful contributions to your team.
